Over the last month, we teamed up with a group of 29 coach developers from the Scottish Football Association. Together, we dove into the world of mentoring.
In just six interactive online sessions, we covered some powerful ground, exploring topics that are game-changers for anyone looking to level up their mentoring skills.
Here’s a quick look at what we explore:
What mentoring really is
Mentoring approaches – Because one size doesn’t fit all.
Impactful questioning and listening – The art of truly hearing (and being heard).
Contracting and boundaries – Setting the foundation for trust and respect.
Positive endings and new beginnings – Empowering independence, responsibility and ownership
Courageous conversations– Tackling tough topics with clarity and compassion.
The group offered feedback on the sessions:
“Relaxed, challenged thought process, introduced many new tools to engage, lots of time to chat with peers to look at implementing.”
“Interactive, thought-provoking, good tools and structures to implement as you see fit.”
“They shine a light on your preconceived/determined ways of working—perhaps not as well thought through as you may wish to think.”
It’s clear that this was a chance to reflect, reframe, and grow. Whether it was sparking new ideas, building confidence, or rethinking old habits, this collaboration was all about making mentoring impactful and meaningful.
To the brilliant coach developers at the Scottish FA: thanks for letting us be part of your journey. Here’s to connection, positive beginnings, and the transformative power of mentorship!
Lets connect. We would love to chat more about mentoring.
