I had such an enjoyable morning with the High Life Highland Active Schools and Community Sport Hubs team, exploring all things mentoring — for both young people and adults.
During our session, we focused on:
• Connection before content – the importance of getting to know the people you’re working with.
• Empowering others to find their own solutions – exploring the balance between push and pull approaches.
• Practical tools to support effective mentoring.
• Opportunities for self-reflection and personal growth.
From the outset, the team were fully engaged. Everyone threw themselves into the activities and discussions, creating a fantastic atmosphere of shared learning and curiosity.
Some of the feedback from the group included:
• Great pace of delivery
• Plenty of open conversations
• Opportunities to put learning into practice
• A good balance between discussion and action
• Enjoyable flow, tempo, and content throughout the session
It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar Highland faces and meet new ones too — I was greeted with a warm “hello” the moment I arrived!
A special mention to the new Bught Park Pavilion in Inverness — what an amazing venue. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bright, welcoming space for training or events.
I’m looking forward to working with the High Life Highland team again soon.
